Seven-hundred Views of Koi Fish — Celebration of the Revival of Life in Ritsurin Garden
2020
Ritsurin Garden is the largest garden in Japan, known for its beautiful scenery and koi fish. In 2018, an outbreak of koi herpes virus occurred. To prevent a pandemic, all koi fish were put to death. Shikoku Newspaper, the local newspaper company, stood up to restore koi fish to the garden. Dentsu wanted to convey the story of koi fish overcoming disease, and encourage the local community. On the day 700 koi fish were released, the agency held a special exhibition in Ritsurin Garden. Inspired by traditional Japanese paintings, it depicted the story of koi fish's return throughout the venue.
